US Fabrics Filter Bags

US Filter Bags are gravity-based geotextile bag filters not contained within any vessel or enclosure. They lie on the ground and are designed to collect silt and sediment from pumped water.

Filter bags are ideal for construction site dewatering and are puncture and tear resistant. US Filter Bags are made from a nonwoven, needlepunched, polypropylene geotextile. Our standard bag sizes are 15'x 15' and 15'x 10'. Custom fabrication is available.

Filter bags are widely used in construction projects where there is no available space for a sedimentation basin. Muddy, sediment-laden water is pumped from the project site and discharged into a filter bag. The almost sediment-free water discharges through the walls of the geotextile bag and flows into a stream or drainage system. The bag's geotextile filter cloth acts as a baffler to the sediment. As a result, the sediment is retained inside the filter bag forming a filter cake. Disturbing the bag may break up the filter cake and reduce its efficiency.

To begin dewatering, simply cut the geotextile to create an opening in the filter bag, insert the discharge hose and secure the connection with a clamp, tie or tape. When filled to capacity, the bag can be buried in place or cut open and the sediment removed and disposed of properly.

Filter Bag Applications
Protect surrounding streams and drainage systems
Eliminate costly hay bales
Alternative to a sedimentation basin
