US Fabrics medium weight nonwoven geotextiles are made from staple filaments of polypropylene fiber and are needlepunched and heatset.
Medium weight nonwoven geotextiles (6oz. to 8oz.) are most commonly used for erosion control. A nonwoven geotextile allows water to pass through it while keeping existing soils in place.
In addition, nonwoven geotextiles can be used in separation/drainage applications. The NRCS recommends using a nonwoven geotextile and stone to protect stream crossings, feeding troughs, watering ramps, feedlots and loafing areas.
Using a 7oz nonwoven geotextile (US 180NW) as a cow carpet will provide better footing and create a healthier environment for your animals.
US 180NW is also useful as a tarp to catch debris and paint chips as a result of cleaning or repairing boats. This versatile fabric catches the debris, but allows water to pass through. Benefits include cleaner pads from which to enter a boat, less debris underfoot and cleaner ladder rungs reducing pedestrian falls and the reduction of items such as nails and screws that can puncture car and trailer tires. The result is significantly reduced runoff and suspended solids pollution and a much cleaner and safer facility.
