"Perhaps the largest single potential application area for any geosynthetic material is highway separation. Separation is indeed the most underestimated of all geosynthetic functions."
-Robert M. Koerner,
George R. Koerner
Separation: Perhaps the most underestimated geotextile function, GFR January 1994

Woven Stabilization & Separation Fabrics
US Fabrics offers cost-effective woven slit film geotextiles made from polypropylene slit film yarns. These ground stabilization fabrics, sometimes known as driveway fabric, have high tensile strength at low elongations. They reduce maintenance costs and improve the performance of paved and unpaved surfaces.
Ground stabilization fabrics minimize rutting and prevent intermixing of the aggregate with the soft soils below. Think of ground stabilization fabric as affordable insurance for your aggregate. These fabrics save time and money by reducing or eliminating the need for additional rock.
As driveway fabric, a stabilization geotextile is placed between the aggregate and the subgrade to preserve the aggregate and reinforce the surrounding soil. Driveway fabric will also keep mud below the rock from 'pumping' up and keep cleanup to a minimum.

"The use of a geotextile separator is, in my opinion, the best bang for the buck a designer can achieve with a geosynthetic in a paved or unpaved roadway."
-Gregory N. Richardson
