Specification: EcoTube™ Geotextile Dewatering Tube

CAPACITY

The EcoTube™ geotextile dewatering tube shall be a minimum of 60 ft in circumference by a minimum of 100 ft in length, constructed so that whatever configuration is utilized, the geotextile dewatering tube will produce a theoretical capacity of approximately 2,000 cy or greater at 100% solids.

STRENGTH (ASTM D-4595 & ASTM D-4884)

The EcoTube™ geotextile dewatering tube shall be produced so that it has an operating strength (OS) of 400 ppi in the circumferential direction and at either end of the tube and 300 ppi in the axial direction elsewhere. The EcoTube™ geotextile dewatering tube shall have a factor of safety (FS*) of not less than 3.0 in the circumferential direction based on a specific gravity (SG) of 1.6 and pumped to a height of 7.5 ft. (*GeoCops or equivalent.)

FILTRATION (ASTM D-4751 & ASTM D-4491)

The EcoTube™ geotextile dewatering tube shall have an apparent opening size (AOS) of not greater than 425 microns and a minimum flow rate of 20 gpm.

EXPOSURE (ASTM D-4355)

The UV resistance of the EcoTube™ geotextile dewatering tube at 500 hours shall be 80% or greater.

PORTS

EcoTube™ Geotextile dewatering tube ports shall be "shirt sleeve" cloth ports, 3.5 ft in length. End ports shall be spaced 15 ft from the ends with intermediate ports not to exceed 50 ft o.c. Mechanical ports, if supplied by customer, can be incorporated into the EcoTube™.

DESIGN

Shop drawings shall be provided illustrating all EcoTube™ geotextile dewatering tube seams and their respective design seam strengths (DDS).

MANUFACTURER'S QUALIFICATIONS

Manufacturer shall have 3 years experience in manufacturing full size geotextile dewatering tubes of 45 ft circumference or greater for a total of not less than 100 tubes.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Each master roll of geotextile utilized in the EcoTube™ geotextile dewatering tubes' manufacture shall be tested as necessary to ensure adherence to the requirements listed above. Test data on the geotextile, corresponding to each individual tube as well as a printout on the the factor of safety (FS) calculation and one representative seam test (conducted by an independent laboratory) of each seam identified in the shop drawings, shall be provided as a submittal prior to shipping.

INSTALLER

Installer shall be experienced in dewatering with geotextile tubes (at least 1 prior project).
