PVC Geomembranes

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) geomembranes are impermeable liners used for liquid detention/retention, canal lining and covers/caps in agricultural, civil and environmental applications. They are favored due to their excellent flexibility, lower cost and overall ease of installation and repair.

While they provide excellent resistance to puncture, tearing and abrasion, a 6oz or 8oz civil nonwoven geotextile may be needed to provide additional protection from aggregates placed on the geomembrane or objects in the subgrade. They are also more susceptible to chemical degradation than HDPE and are not suitable for all project environments..

PVC geomembranes offer a wide variety of mil thicknesses to meet most application requirements. Standard thickness includes 20, 30, 40, 60 & 80 mils.

Most PVC geomembrane panels can be easily joined with standard PVC glue or hot air wedge welding. PVC geomembranes conform well to uneven surfaces or applications requiring complex shapes, angles or corners. Pipe boots can be quickly assembled at the jobsite. They are also lighter than other geomembranes, further lending to their ease of installation. Small repairs are easily made. As such, PVC geomembranes do not require expert or certified installation crews.
